About this experience
History is just a collection of personal stories. During the tour, you will not only see the Alhambra, but also learn about what happened within these walls. We will stroll through the picturesque gardens of Generalife, visit the military fortress and several palaces. We will talk about sultans, intrigues, and mysterious murders.
What to Expect
We will walk through the gardens of Generalife, visit the Nasrid palaces, take a peek at Alcazaba - the military fortress offering the best views of the city, and discuss the events that unfolded here. I must clarify, our tour is not a chronological description of the 260-year rule of the Nasrid dynasty; it is a compilation of the brightest and most memorable stories from the sultans' lives.
Life in the Alhambra was challenging yet incredibly captivating. Intoxicating power, flattering robes poisoned with intrigue, and enemies thirsty for revenge. In 3 hours, we will unveil a bit of the mystery and witness the throne games played by the sultans of the Alhambra 6 centuries ago.
You will learn:
- what the Granada Emirate is and the role it played in Spanish history;
- how 24 sultans fought for power, succeeding one another;
- how a chess game saved a sultan's life;
- the truth behind the assassination of Ismail I;
- who truly benefited from the frequent changes in power on the Alhambra throne;
- and much more!
