About this experience
The three nicknames of Alghero perfectly reflect the impression of it. The "Coral City" refers to the special blood-red corals that adorn the street stalls, the secret of the name "City of Light" lies in its unusual architecture, and the "Little Barcelona" reflects the spirit and history of Alghero. You will explore all these facets on the excursion, and before that, you will visit the picturesque and majestic Neptune's Grotto at Punta Giglio.
What to Expect
Visit to Punta Giglio
By boat or car - depending on your preference - we will head straight to Punta Giglio, or as it is called here - Kapo Kakka. Once near the cave or descending the stairs, enjoying the breathtaking views, you will head straight into the "mouth" of Neptune's Grotto. This is a true wonder of nature - a maze of corridors formed by stalactites and stalagmites. Here, the local guide will tell you how and when the grottoes were formed, as well as the history of their name, and you will not miss a single picturesque corner. Believe me, it's worth seeing!
Stroll through the "Little Barcelona"
And then you will visit the center of Alghero. You will encounter narrow streets, churches with bright domes, elegant palaces, and viewing platforms at the tops of towers. And an infinite number of shops selling jewelry made of "living stones" - locally highly valuable corals of amazing colors. You will learn how much the residents of Alghero borrowed from the Spaniards - in culture, traditions, and language. And in your free time, you will walk among the architectural monuments, deciphering another of the city's nicknames, visit a boutique owned by a native of Alghero, the famous designer Antonio Marras, and have lunch at one of the city's restaurants serving excellent fish dishes.
