About this experience
Kazakhstan is famous for its beautiful mountains, lakes, and waterfalls, formed by tectonic shifts. For hiking enthusiasts seeking to connect with nature, we offer a visit to the magical corners of our region, to admire the views of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains and ascend to the Mynzhylky plateau.
What to expect
Composite route
We will drive to the Medeu tract, from there we will take a cable car or a taxi up to the Shymbulak ski resort and start our trek to Mynzhylky from there. We will walk at your comfortable pace, but still, consider your strength as we will have to cover about 11.5 kilometers. The one-way journey will take 2-3 hours.
Fresh air, silence, and mountains
The Mynzhylky plateau is comfortably situated at the source of the Malaya Almatinka River just 28 kilometers south of Almaty. The tract is surrounded by the Tuyuksu glaciers. We will hike with you through alpine meadows. If we are lucky, we will feed the squirrels along the way. We will reach the tract via the ridge, see the year-round weather station and the dam, behind which opens a view of the huge sea wall of the glacier. Along the way, I will tell you about the history of Medeu, Mynzhylky, and the Shymbulak resort.
