What to Expect
Garni and Geghard: Two Faiths
We will travel from the 1st century to the beginning of the 4th, from pagan Armenia to Christian. The backdrop for immersion in the past will be the Hellenistic Garni Temple and the Geghard Monastery surrounded by mountains. I will talk about pagan cults and how Armenia was the first in the world to adopt Christianity, and also explain the role faith plays in the life of the Armenian people.
Sevan and Dilijan — Admire Nature
You will see the largest lake in the Caucasus. We will stop at the azure waters of Sevan to visit the Sevanavank Monastery with two ancient churches. You will hear about the chronicles of the sanctuaries, traditional stone steles called 'khachkars,' and legends of the lake. Next, the path leads through the Dilijan Pass, rightfully called the Little Switzerland, whose views are breathtaking!
We are heading to Georgia, so along the way you will learn about the history of this beautiful country. We will cross the border at Sadakhlo, and after 40 minutes — welcome to the warm and hospitable Tbilisi!
