About this experience
An unique opportunity to try Portuguese wines in an ancient winery in one of the most picturesque regions of the country and participate in the annual medieval fair in the fortified city of Óbidos.
The history of winemaking in Portugal dates back to a very distant past. Not to mention the Middle Ages, when wine was a must-have on any feudal lord's table. By the 16th century, Portugal became one of the largest centers of wine production and sales. And by the 18th century, this noble drink was sent to the tables of European monarchs and Russian tsars.
Program
Tasting dry and dessert wines, learning about their production, a walk through the garden and vineyards awaits us at the winery before we head to the most famous Portuguese fair and immerse ourselves in the medieval atmosphere.
We will be welcomed by the ancient Óbidos – one of the seven wonders of Portugal, a city encircled by fortress walls, which is simply impossible not to fall in love with! Especially during the days of the medieval fair – the city and the Estremadura region's main celebration, where Óbidos opens its gates to many guests. Among the entertainments are knight tournaments, troubadour songs, medieval dances, and traditional games! Knights, minstrels, wandering musicians, witches, jesters, court jesters, monks, illusionists, acrobats, and jugglers fill the streets and squares of the city. And what self-respecting knight and his beautiful lady would refuse a cup of wine and a juicy piece of spit-roasted boar!
Welcome to the fairy tale!
