About this experience
Just 30 minutes away from Amsterdam lies the amazing Utrecht and the country's largest castle, De Haar. I invite you to visit them with me. We will stroll around one of the oldest cities in our kingdom and the atmospheric castle with ghosts (where would we be without them!). I promise you a full immersion in the history of the Netherlands, as well as in the modern life of a country of windmills and tulips.
What to expect
Utrecht: formidable past and cozy present
A unique medieval town in the heart of the country that was once an independent bishopric and a threat to neighboring provinces. Colorful gingerbread houses, where intrigues brewed and passions flared, still keep their secrets to this day. I will reveal some of the mysteries to you and also show two old churches where you can try... What do you think you can taste there? Test your guesses on our tour. And you will also understand why the Dutch often choose Utrecht as a place to live.
De Haar Castle: centuries-old history
Next, we will visit the atmospheric castle. It stands out with its exceptionally thoughtful interior, as you will see for yourself. Even a special design of dishes was created specifically for the fortress. The hosts had a hairdressing salon at their service. We will explore the numerous heraldry and symbols of the castle. We will find out which celebrities have visited the fortress, and what ghosts guard it. Right there, in the castle, we can have a lunch break.
