About this experience
Many know Milan's Duomo, the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, and Sforza Castle. But that's far from all you can see in Milan. If you want to discover the unusual side of the city, step off the tourist paths and follow me to where pink flamingos live in the urban landscapes, and churches are adorned with human skulls and tempting snakes.
What to expect
On this tour, we will:
- See pink flamingos at the pond near Villa Necchi Campiglio and discuss how the Milanese bourgeoisie lived in the past century.
- Check out how the 'wireless phone' works in the medieval square of merchants.
- Witness an unusual optical illusion created by the architect Donato Bramante in the church of Santa Maria presso San Satiro.
- Be amazed by the eerie sight in the Chapel of Saint Bernardino, adorned with human skulls and bones.
- Laugh, be outraged, or marvel at the sculpture 'The Finger' by Maurizio Cattelan.
- Visit the church of San Maurizio, known as the Sistine Chapel of Milan for its magnificent 16th-century frescoes. You will see Luini's 'Last Supper,' the depiction of the Universal Flood, and Noah's ark with unicorns. Try to guess why Eve is depicted with two apples on the frescoes and the tempting snake has a female head.
- Explore the modern part of Milan: see the 'Vertical Forest' skyscrapers, recognized as some of the most beautiful in the world.
- Enjoy high-quality Milan street art.
- Visit 'Toiletpaper street' – a street covered with images from the art magazine 'Toiletpaper,' founded by the extravagant Maurizio Cattelan.
And these are just some of the surprises Milan has in store for you on this tour! You will see that this city has everything – for history lovers and modernity enthusiasts alike.
