About this experience
An excursion around Stockholm by car is a wonderful opportunity to see the city from several panoramic viewpoints. We will drive through 7 Swedish islands and you will see numerous districts where the 'life is boiling' in the Swedish capital. My tour is a balance of stories about modern life with interesting narratives about the country's history. Everything will be lagom, let's go!
What to expect
- 7 Swedish islands.
- Panoramic viewpoint on the bohemian island of Södermalm.
- Nobel House, St. Nicholas Cathedral, and the Royal Palace.
- Museum Island (Vasa Museum, Skansen, Junibacken).
- Main waterfront and the millionaire's district.
- Modern center of Stockholm: opera, parliament, and non-touristic locations.
- Old Town and Knight's Island.
- Christmas atmosphere and delicious glögg, which I treat all guests with.
Route
- You will visit the highest point of Stockholm - the viewpoint on Södermalm Island, where incredibly beautiful photos of the city are taken. This is the largest and most unusual island, where the most famous Swede Alfred Nobel was born in 1833. During the tour, we will tell you the exciting story of his life. All the bohemia of Stockholm lives precisely on Södermalm Island, probably that's why this island is filled with various antique shops and stores with unusual Swedish design.
- We will walk around the Nobel House, and you will learn all the secrets of preparing for the Nobel Banquet, as well as why laureates receive two medals during the award ceremony.
- Next, along the parade waterfront Strandvägen and the modern millionaire's district, Östermalm, you will drive to the Museum Island. You will see where the central part of modern Stockholm is located and learn about the origin of the 'Stockholm Syndrome'. On the way to the Museum Island, you will see the Royal Dramatic Theatre, noble houses, and the oldest circus in the city.
- The historical part of Stockholm is in close proximity to the modern center. Therefore, during the tour, I will not only introduce you to the architecture of the XX century but also show you the best places to shop. Sweden is a global leader in design, and the Swedish fashion industry has long been recognized as the most creative and interesting.
- We will stop by the Knight's Island and see the royal tomb of Swedish kings, and then take a stroll through the Old Town. In the Old Town, we will stop at the square where the Bloody Bath took place and the fierce battle for the Swedish throne.
- Then we will go to St. Nicholas Cathedral, walk through the ancient streets of Stockholm, and you will see where the Vikings historically left a mention of themselves in the form of runic stones.
- Our tour will end near the Royal Palace, where I will tell the story of its construction and we will definitely watch the changing of the royal guard.
