About this experience
Thessaloniki is a multicultural, unique, and incredibly lively city with a centuries-old history. You will walk through the cobblestones of history and get to know it better. You will see the famous White Tower and Byzantine temples. Learn about the holidays celebrated here and why you cannot greet a Greek with an open palm.
What to expect
You will walk around the city from Aristotle Square to iconic locations. You will see the White Tower, the Rotunda, ancient Byzantine temples, and picturesque churches. I will talk about the city's culture, holidays, and language. You will learn why Greeks decorate ships, not Christmas trees, for New Year's. And you will understand why locals never greet each other with an open palm.
If you wish, you can climb the fortress walls and admire the city panorama from above. If you want, we can sit in a cafe and discuss the modern life of Thessaloniki and its chronicles — from Greeks to Turks, from pagans to Christians, from Jews to Slavs.
