This tour is for those who can't imagine travelling without immersing themselves in the authentic features and traditions of the country. In Baku's workshops, you will meet talented artisans, see how carpets, silver and clay products are created, how fabrics are painted, and wood is processed. And all of this happens against the backdrop of Old and New Baku.
What to Expect
Discover Azerbaijan through its crafts
In our country, many artisans have not forgotten the traditions of their ancestors and continue to create artisanal products. You will visit 10 authentic workshops and centers, where people passionate about their craft will share trade secrets, show their masterpieces, and gladly chat with you. So you will visit:
- The workshop of the barefoot artist Ali Shamsi: its entrance does not go unnoticed by any traveller strolling through the Old City of Icheri Sheher. Inside, you will see warmly infused paintings with a variety of subjects.
- Ayub Usta's workshop, where you will get acquainted with the disappearing profession of the hatter and see how aerodrome caps, which were once worn by all men in Baku, are created.
- An art gallery showcasing paintings from the 19th-20th centuries - they will show how artists see Baku.
- The Carpet Weaving Center: you will observe the manual process of creating carpets and admire the finished works.
- Abad Center - a social state project that brought together masters from the regions. You will see how traditions of glass painting, wood carving, and many others are preserved.
- Adam Zindani's workshop - a sculptor who creates wonders from wood.
- A jewelry workshop where you will learn about the characteristics of national silver items.
- A ceramic workshop: you will not only see how artists breathe life into the earth but also participate in creating a clay masterpiece.
- A workshop on fabric painting - Azerbaijani batik.
- A small restaurant in Old Baku, where you will cook kutabs (with meat, cheese, and herbs) and enjoy their taste!
