About this experience
Not long ago, residents were outraged that Batumi was spoiled by drawings on the walls - and today they have become an integral part of the city. You don't have to go to a museum to touch art - get ready to meet it in the urban space! I invite you to take a walk to not only see the works of artists from around the world, but also to understand street art and its history.
What to expect
Georgian street art is just over 20 years old. This young phenomenon has become a highlight of Batumi, whose walls have turned into canvases. Urban art is supported here by the city authorities, thematic festivals are held, and artists from other countries move to Georgia specifically to paint. We will find interesting works, and you will learn:
- what street art is and how it has developed in Georgia
- the difference between graffiti, public art, and street art
- what themes street artists paint in Batumi
- who hides behind pseudonyms and tags
- when and where street art originated and why the modern understanding of the term is distorted
- who was the first writer in the 19th century and how contemporaries reacted to him
- and much more
I will also introduce you to other works of masters in electronic format so that you better understand the style and concept of each.
