Washington holds a crucial place in American history, abundant with legendary monuments and famous sites. It was a labor of American founding fathers for its idea, and renowned French architects for its appearance. I will teach you how to decipher its architectural mysteries, introduce you to local customs, as well as the country's social and political life.
What to expect
Seat of power and might
In the first part of the tour, you will discover the places that embody Washington's original urban planning idea: 'I want to be Rome'. I will explain the similarities between the US capital and St. Petersburg. I will teach you to see the founders' city plan and architectural symbolism behind the broad streets and avenues. On our route:
- Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials
- Washington Monument
- Memorials dedicated to the Korean and Vietnam Wars
Diverse and unique
Paying tribute to the great Albert Einstein, whose amazing bronze monument is also nearby, we will see the A. S. Pushkin monument. Then, we will return to the center to see:
- Capitol building
- Library of Congress
- Supreme Court
- Smithsonian Institution buildings
- The White House
