What to Expect
Facts about the greatest secret society on the planet
Mysterious, secretive, powerful - that's all about the Masons. You will learn about the traditions of initiation into lodge members, special rules of greetings among themselves, and some nuances of handshakes. I will also tell you about the origin of the name of the Freemasons Order, which amazingly managed to encompass various elements of the three great religions of the world. About its trace in the history of the Portuguese capital and why it is sometimes so difficult to understand the meaning of Masonic symbols, many of which are left in plain sight.
Search for signs and messages in the streets of Lisbon
The journey will begin with the 'Love Nest' - Lisbon's last public house. You will decipher the mystery of the Adamastor monument and the tiny golden man at Miradouro de Santa Catarina. You will learn what connected Count Cagliostro with Portugal and see the palace where the great magician lived. You will hear incredible facts about the famous Palace of Shiadu, where the history of Portugal was written. On Rua Garrett, you will find and decipher many Masonic symbols, including a five-pointed star. The history of Rossio Square, the 'navel of the Earth', will bring together a deck of cards, 4 angels, and Pedro IV. You will discover what a relief with a handshake may signify, and then go in search of a huge eagle on Rua Augusta.
