About this experience
The Idjevan Mountains are one of the favorite places for guests of our region. Picture this: you stand on the summit, in front of you are distant panoramas of mountain ranges, eagles soar beneath your feet, and mighty cliffs plunge into a high precipice. These places are excellent locations for various photoshoots, as well as for soulful picnics, total relaxation, and unforgettable experiences amidst mountains and clouds.
What to expect
With the Idjevan mountains, we can depart from Gyumri or from Yerevan. In this case, only the path to Dilijan will differ, the rest of the route is the same.
Route from Gyumri
- On the way, we will pass through the third most important city in Armenia - Vanadzor. In the times of the USSR, there was a large chemical plant located here. Now it has turned into a big abandoned area.
- Along the way, we will stop for 15-20 minutes at the village of Fioletovo, where Russian Molokans live - followers of one of the currents of spiritual Christianity.
- After 20 minutes, we will arrive in the city of Dilijan. Here we will pause at the statue of Mimino.
- 15 kilometers from the city, we will start the ascent on the picturesque dirt road to the Idjevan mountains. We will drive 12 kilometers. Along the way, we may encounter a herd of horses or a herd of cows.
- And here we are on the summit of Mount Dimats. For 2-3 hours, we will stop time and immerse ourselves in euphoria at an altitude of 2350 meters above sea level. We will have a picnic (if desired), I will prepare tea from mountain herbs, capture these places and you in the background with a drone.
- Then we will visit the 46-meter Shagot waterfall, where you can refresh yourself after a busy day. And return to the city rejuvenated and energized by nature.
Route from Yerevan
- On the way from Yerevan, we will pass the famous Lake Sevan and the longest tunnel in Armenia, stretching for 2257 meters.
- After the tunnel, the landscape will change remarkably, as if we will step into another world. In front of us will stretch the forest of Dilijan National Park. In Dilijan, we will also stop at the monument of Mimino.
- And then we will continue the journey to the Idjevan mountains. There will also be a picnic, herbal tea, atmospheric photos, and emotions that will give you goosebumps.
During the trip, I will tell you about the mountains and how they were formed, as well as how the locals live and what they do here. I will introduce you to the flora and fauna of this region.
Organizational Details
- The price includes a transfer from Gyumri in a comfortable Toyota 4Runner jeep and the services of a guide. For little travelers, there is a child car seat available.
- Additional fee for a transfer from Yerevan is discussed separately in personal correspondence.
- Bring sandwiches, snacks, water with you. Or for an additional fee, I can arrange a mountain picnic. For this, I always have a table, chairs, and a grill in my car.
- Dress code - comfortable, sporty. If needed, windbreakers will be provided.
- At your request, I can organize a trip with an overnight stay. Tents and all equipment are available. The cost of the excursion in this case increases by 70%.
