About this experience
I will tell you easily, understandably and fascinatingly about the masterpiece that has puzzled generations of scholars, and enthusiasts. Children will learn to read 'comics' from 2000 years ago and understand what the Bible in stone means. They will find out why Gaudi depicted fruits and why the frogs with lizards are useful to the temple. They will assemble their own facades and see a chocolate model of the completed cathedral.
What to Expect
A Look into the Past
Getting acquainted with the cathedral will start from afar, both literally and figuratively: we will go back to the distant past and step back as far as Gaudi believed was necessary to admire this monumental building. By the way, the name of the great Catalan architect is inseparably linked to Sagrada Familia. But during the tour, I will reveal that it was not him who came up with the idea of building the Holy Family church.
Life of Jesus in 'Comics'
As children examine the cathedral, they will learn to read the 'comics' left by the architects on the cathedral facades. The history of 2000 years ago will pass before their eyes in the form of colorful pictures—thus, the expression 'the Bible in stone' will become clear.
Baskets of Fruits, Frogs, and Lizards
I will tell you about the secret of bright fruit baskets on the temple walls—why did the architect choose to decorate the cathedral with them? What noble goals did Gaudi pursue by portraying the well-known symbol of sin—the serpent? I will also explain the benefits of lizards and frogs to the cathedral.
Façade of the Nativity, Passion, and the Chocolate Temple
In a team game, we will assemble our own facades of the famous Barcelona cathedral. For this, we will need the plot of the comics we studied at the beginning. Children will see how the cathedral will look when it is finally completed and will count all the towers on the chocolate model of Sagrada. By the way, here you can indulge in sweet treats while reflecting on the theme of the Passion of Christ.
