About this experience
This is a practical seminar on the concept of travel photography combined with a walk and a mini photoshoot.
Accustomed to the hustle and bustle of big cities, we get lost in the simplicity and unhurried pace of small coastal towns like Mossel Bay. It is very difficult to convey the beauty of the external world without seeing the beauty within oneself. I would like to conduct this walk in the format of phototherapy. My goal is to help my companions see the beauty within and around through photography, slow down, listen to themselves, and convey the seen story.
Unlock the photographer, artist, observer, and photo storyteller within yourself!
During the walk, we will learn how to tell a story through photography, familiarize ourselves with the technical basics of photography, as well as practice internal and external observation. The walk will take place along the streets, beaches, and historical sites of Mossel Bay. The route can be adjusted depending on your interests.
Mossel Bay is a town with 24 km of white sandy beaches, known for its surf spots and picturesque cliffs. It is home to a colony of seals, a center for studying great white sharks, and simply a town filled with colorful images. Mossel Bay can tell us many stories. For example, about the Khoi-Khoi tribe, who lived by hunting and gathering in Mossel Bay 200,000 years ago. During the walk, we will visit the cave of St. Blaize, where they lived, and see natural rock formations used for fishing. I will also tell you about the first Europeans who landed in the lands of South Africa in Mossel Bay! We will walk along the path towards the St. Blaize Lighthouse and feel the breathtaking heights of this place. We will stop at the famous surf spot in Mossel Bay, stroll along Santos Beach, which has received the Blue Flag designation for its beauty, cleanliness, and safety, or stop at Diaz Beach, where the traveler Bartholomew Diaz landed in the 15th century.
If you feel like it, we will head to the elevated part of the city, from where you can see the entire Mossel Bay, including the port from which ostrich feathers were exported to European nobility in the 19th-20th centuries.
The seminar includes a mini photoshoot of the participants. You will not only receive beautiful photos after the walk but also feel beyond the lens.
Cost is 85 euros per person (for a group of 1-2 people) or 70 euros per person (for a group of 3-4 people). Own transportation is required, food expenses are not included.
