About this experience
There are so many halls in the Prado that it's easy to get lost. Having visited it dozens of times, I have come up with a route that allows you to leisurely see the main paintings, that is, iconic images created by masters of the Spanish school of painting. The goal of the excursion is to evaluate them not only from an artistic, but also an aesthetic point of view. The country's history, fashion history, and psychology in the portraits will help you look at the museum visit in a new way.
Program
The Prado museum funds are works taken directly from the Royal Collections, so the museum reflects the personal tastes of the monarchs who ruled Spain from the 15th century. Famous artists and their equally famous models will be the main characters of the tour. Diego Velazquez, the court painter, is the author of ceremonial and hunting portraits of rulers, courtiers, and royal infants. He stands out not only for his attention to costume and setting details, but for his unbiased, slightly hyperbolic approach to portraying people, very bold for his time. On the contrary, Francisco Goya tried not to exaggerate anything, so his portraits of royal figures in some way resemble ... contemporary photographs. El Greco preferred spiritual portraits to secular ones, full of religious undertones. And Ribera's paintings, also created on a religious basis, can be interpreted simultaneously as realism and as metaphors...
Practically every portrait has a mystery, a hidden meaning, and I will help you decipher it. There will be interesting stories, many bright colors, and without exaggeration - only masterpieces from the extensive Prado collection.
