What to Expect
Holiday traditions in Pamplona
I will tell you in detail about the traditions of the San Fermin Festival, which is recognized as a tourist attraction of international importance. In July, when the festival takes place, the streets and squares of the city are filled with thousands of Spaniards and visiting tourists. Music plays around the clock, wine flows, lively dances captivate the crowd, and the most scandalous and blood-pumping event takes place - the so-called Encierro or the bull run, where anyone brave enough can test their agility dodging the wild bulls racing through the central streets of the city.
Historical heritage of the city
We will stroll through the streets and squares of the ancient parts of Pamplona, among which stand out beautiful temples, palaces, residential buildings from the Middle Ages, and well-preserved fortification walls and the military fortress-citadel. You will also learn about the unusual and tragic history that shaped modern Pamplona.
Must-See Places in Pamplona
You will visit the most emblematic places in Pamplona, such as the route of the bull run during the San Fermin festival and the sites of the Way of St. James. You will see a beautiful Renaissance palace, hiding behind its ornate facade a rich collection of the Museum of Pamplona's history. You will explore one of Pamplona's oldest temples - dedicated to San Saturnino, built in the 13th century, and learn about its function centuries ago. You will see one of the best-preserved fortifications in northern Spain - the thick walls of the impregnable Navarre fortress. We will make a stop at the majestic Cathedral of Pamplona, whose facade could easily mislead, as it did once Victor Hugo, if one does not know about its antiquity and importance in Pamplona's history.
Hemingway's Favorite Cafe
We will finish our tour of the city at Castle Square, where you can visit Ernest Hemingway's favorite cafe, immortalized in his literary masterpiece "The Sun Also Rises." In the numerous bars and cafes of this square, where an atmosphere of serene joy reigns, you can relax after the tour and taste traditional Navarrese pintxos - small exquisite snacks paired with aromatic Navarrese wines, among which the rose stands out.
