About this experience
Kauai is the oldest and most beautiful Hawaiian island. It is also a true Hollywood star. The local landscape and variety of nature were perfect for filming movies about exotic places in Africa, Vietnam, South America, the Caribbean, and even about the fantasy worlds of 'Jurassic Park' and 'Avatar'. You will visit these amazing 'sets' and along the way get acquainted with Hawaiian religion and legends.
What to Expect
- You will visit two of the most beautiful waterfalls - Wailua and Opaekaa.
- Explore the sacred area of Wailua, where you will see traditional Hawaiian temples and learn about their purposes. For example, there were temples for sacrifices, prayers, and worshiping gods, temples of birth and shelters. You will also visit the Hindu complex with magnificent tropical views and hear the story of its appearance on the island.
- In the Arboratum forest with Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, you will see some of the most unusual trees in the world and walk through the shooting locations of 'Avatar'.
- I will show you the legendary 'Coco Palms Hotel', destroyed by a hurricane in 1992. It was the filming location for 'Blue Hawaii' with Elvis Presley and episodes of 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
- You will encounter the picturesque landscapes and ancient legends of the 'Sleeping Giant' and 'Anahola' mountains - the latter can be seen in adventure movies like 'Six Days, Seven Nights' and 'Indiana Jones'.
- On the way to the north shore, you will have a view of the sacred mountain Kalalea - I will tell you the tradition that describes it as a portal to another dimension.
- We will pass by Mark Zuckerberg's estate and see where he is building his bunker and farm.
- We will stop at the 'Disneyesque' Kilauea Lighthouse and stroll through the seabird sanctuary - in winter, you can observe humpback whales from the observation decks.
- Finally, we will head to the famous Hanalei Beach, where movies like 'South Pacific', 'Descendants', and other Hollywood films were shot.
