About this experience
Ca 'Rezzonico is a Venetian palace on the Grand Canal. It features a ballroom, the apartments of Cardinal Rezzonico, expensive furniture and porcelain, the yellow salon, the throne room, the ceramic room, the pastel room showcasing works by R. Carriera. Decor and fashion are not just superficial aspects but true witnesses of the time in which they emerged. On the tour of the 18th-century palace, you will feel like Venetians of that era and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the past noble life.
Program
- I will talk about Venice in the 18th century, about the history and peculiarities of the palace, about the Rezzonico family, while you admire the frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo, painted in pastels for the wedding of Ludovico Rezzonico, the five-meter chandeliers made of wood and gold, the antique furniture, and the unique collection of Venetian glass.
- I will show you an interesting collection of porcelain cups and tell you what fashionable drink of the 18th century was consumed from them. You will also learn where Casanova lost at cards, 'picketto' - that was the name of the game, and it's said to have lasted 42 hours.
- On the top floor are rooms left from the old pharmacy, and collections of paintings by Italian masters - I will help you not to get lost in this beauty.
