About this experience
Liberty - that's what this refined, fluid, all-encompassing floral style was called. Why such a non-Italian name here? Where in Milan did the wealthy bourgeoisie live, shocking the aristocracy with new provocative architecture? How did this style develop and transform? I will tell you about this and much more on a walk through the center, which will reveal new facets to you.
What to expect
- You will see a building that Milanese citizens christened due to the indecently naked girls on the facade. You will learn about the scandal that started the modern era in Milan and what happened to those girls.
- You will discover several Liberty masterpieces on one street and learn how it happened that they were built on the site of stables. Here you will hear an interesting story about cinema in Milan, which began with a modern-style building.
- You will find two symbolic Liberty houses of Milan. You will try to guess who is depicted on the numerous tiles of the first one. And then you will enter the second one and be greatly surprised.
- I will show you how modern-era houses were thought out to the smallest details, how the architect created everything down to the door handles, how functionality merged with aesthetics. I will also talk about the demise of this style and how the idea of modernism transformed and returned to us in a completely unrecognizable form.
- Additionally, you will peek into secret places, of which there are plenty in Milan. You will see the most unusual intercom in the city and a villa with pink flamingos. And we will also try to enter a special park where adults can only enter accompanied by children.
- Finally, I will give you my author's mini-guide on Liberty style in Milan, in which you will find a continuation of our route in other areas of the city.
