About this experience
The art museum of the capital of Normandy is a real treasure chest hidden from tourist crowds 1.5 hours drive from Paris. Here we will leisurely enjoy the canvases of Italian, French, and Dutch artists of different eras. Special attention will be paid to the significant collection of Impressionists - the third largest after the Orsay Museum in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in Le Havre.
What to expect
- We will admire the main masterpieces of the museum - paintings by representatives of the 'old school' Gerard David, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Veronese, Rubens.
- We will get acquainted with the works of original French painters - Jean-Baptiste Oudry, Francois Boucher, Jean-Honore Fragonard, Hubert Robert, Theodore Gericault and Eugene Delacroix.
- We will delve into Impressionism in more detail, as it was Normandy that gave the world this picturesque direction. We will name the reasons why Impressionism could only be born in this province.
- We will highlight the unique features of the creative style of Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Gustave Caillebotte, and Alfred Sisley.
