What to expect
'Seventh Art' history of Marseille
Marseille ranks second in France in terms of the number of filming locations after Paris. I will show you the neighborhoods and streets that often turn into movie sets. You will take a walk through the historical district of Le Panier and the Old Port, the central street of Canebière, and Boulevard Belsunce. Explore the Estrangin-Préfecture square and feel the atmosphere of the Catalans and Corniche Kennedy neighborhoods. I will tell you about Marseille stories of the Lumière brothers, the film 'Borsalino' with Belmondo and Alain Delon, and of course, the adaptation of 'The Count of Monte Cristo'.
The magical world of Marseille
In many 'Marseille' films, local attractions have appeared. You will see the fortress of Saint John and the Cathedral of La Major, the Pharo Palace and the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, the fishing port, and the mysterious Château d'If. You will hear about the Marseille saga of Luc Besson, 'Hollywood in French' Panolia, the films of Sacha Guitry and Jean Renoir, and the Oscar-winning masterpiece of Friedkin. And if you're lucky, you might accidentally meet celebrities of world cinema on the street!
