About this experience
Marseille is the largest port city in France, which you have seen in movies many times. It combines different architectural styles, narrow streets coexist with huge boulevards, and the city is filled with scents of fresh fish, baguettes, and coffee. You will visit the island of If, admire the beauty of the Longchamp Palace and enjoy the city panorama near Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde.
What to Expect
- The Island of If. You will see Dantes' chamber and recall your emotions while reading the novel "The Count of Monte Cristo."
- The Longchamp Palace. You will appreciate its triumphal arch, colonnade, and fountain system. Optionally, we will visit the palace from the inside.
- Pharo Park, where the palace built on the orders of Napoleon III for his wife Eugenie is located. From the park hill, you will admire the old port and the majestic forts that protected the entrance to the Marseille port until the end of the 19th century.
- Basilica of Our Lady Guard (Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde). It is located at an altitude of 162 meters above sea level, and its interior is distinguished by a unique mosaic. From the hill, you have a view of the entire city, the Chateau d'If, and the Mediterranean Sea – one of the most beautiful panoramas in France.
