About this experience
For over 8 centuries the heart of Krakow has been beating on the Market Square, where traces of the city's most interesting events from its history have been preserved. We will walk around the square in search of Medieval artifacts, talk about Krakow's merchants and monarchs, and then descend into the mysterious undergrounds, where the city's secrets and details of city life will be revealed to you.
What to expect
Market Square stories
You will find yourself on one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, right in the heart of Krakow. Can there be a more fitting place to immerse yourself in Polish Medieval times? We will stroll through the Market Square, examine artifacts from past eras, and decipher their purpose. What events took place here, which legendary personalities visited, and what hides behind the colorful facades - all of this will be revealed to you on the walk. We will also admire the Mariacki Church and talk about the times when lively trading took place on the square, and Krakow merchants earned huge fortunes here.
Descent into Medieval undergrounds
Then you will discover a deeper level of Krakow - and its history. We will descend 4 meters underground, into the historical-archaeological museum "Market Square Undergrounds". Traces of the city's Medieval life have been preserved almost intact here: you will see Krakow's cobblestone roads from the 12th - 13th centuries, the first market rows, and even rings and coins lost by Krakow residents hundreds of years ago. And of course, you will appreciate the mysterious atmosphere of the "city under the city", where the joys and sorrows of the townspeople of that time, their way of life, customs, and architecture of the Middle Ages will be revealed.
