About this experience
You will see the most interesting places of the northern Black Sea coast: the town of Balchik with its famous botanical garden and the summer residence of the Romanian queen, the oldest lighthouse in the Balkan Peninsula, and Cape Kaliakra. You will hear the history and legends of our land and taste local dishes and drinks.
What to Expect
Diverse Bulgaria
You will embark on a rich journey along the Black Sea coast, enjoy wonderful natural landscapes and ancient monuments. The tour program includes:
- Aladzha Monastery (The museum is closed for visits from December to March) - a medieval Orthodox monastery, now turned into a museum. You will see the monks' dwellings carved right into the sheer rock and hear the legends associated with them.
- "White City" Balchik - a small coastal town, picturesquely situated on limestone rocks. Here you will visit the Botanical Garden and the summer residence of the Romanian Queen Marie. You will be invited for a complimentary tasting of local wines.
- Cape Kaliakra - you will explore the preserved ruins of a fortress and ancient settlements on the cape and a marvelous tiny chapel. Plus, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea from a height of 60 meters and, if you're lucky, spot dolphins.
- Lunch at a restaurant with traditional cuisine - you will have the opportunity to try local seafood at a wonderful restaurant by the mussel farm.
- Tyulenovo Village - I will tell you the sad history of this picturesque place and show you wonderful views of the coastal cliffs.
- Cape Shabla - the easternmost point of Bulgaria. Here you will find the oldest and tallest active lighthouse in the country.
