Must-see in the Louvre collections
The prestige and pride of the Louvre lie in its art collection, not the largest in the world, but of immense historical value. It consists of 550 thousand items, 35 thousand of which are on display in the halls. You could study them for years, but in 2.5 hours you will have time to get acquainted with the most significant and famous exhibits:
- Great Sphinx of Tanis - the oldest 'resident' of the Louvre and the largest Sphinx outside of Egypt;

- Frescoes by Botticelli - a rare example of the Renaissance master's works outside of Italy;
- Slaves by Michelangelo - two sculptures by another Renaissance representative, not included in the final project for the tomb of Pope Julius II and thus ended up in France;
- Two largest paintings in the Louvre - 'The Wedding at Cana in Galilee,' a Venetian trophy of Napoleon, which remained in the Louvre thanks to a clever exchange, and 'The Coronation of Napoleon' by David - a representative of the neo-classical movement.
In addition, you will see romantic Amor and Psyche, the portrait of Balthazar Castiglione by the great Raphael, 'The Great Odalisque,' and other masterpieces of world art.
Organizational details
Entrance tickets to the Louvre are paid additionally to the guide on-site: adult - €22, participants under 18 years old can enter the museum for free upon presentation of an ID confirming age.
Pay attention
- The guide purchases entrance tickets in advance: when booking the tour, inform the guide of the names and surnames of all participants over 18 years old (in Latin letters), and also indicate how many children under 12 years old will be on the tour.
