You will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Old City and the modern European Baku, learn about local legends and peculiarities of the way of life. Purple cabs, iconic Flame Towers, ancient fortress walls, and the legendary Maiden Tower will be on your way, and a series of professional photos will be a pleasant addition to the walk.
What to Expect
Origins of the New City
The photo walk will start in front of Hard Rock Cafe Baku. The location is not chosen by chance, as opposite it is the Museum of Azerbaijani Literature: you will learn why and how oil magnates began to build European Baku beyond the walls of the old fortress.
Authenticity of the Old City
Here you will encounter picturesque views, fortress walls, and famous sights. You will pass through the main gates of Gosha Gala, gaze at the legacy of the ancient city. I will tell you when and why the Baku Khanate ceased to exist, share legends about interesting houses and their names: Iron, Ship, and the House with Cats. Of course, you will see the main symbols of Old Baku - the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, take photos where ancient Baku meets the era of the oil boom and modern buildings. Additionally, like Nikulin, you will fall on the spot of the filming of 'The Diamond Arm' and find out where 'The Amphibian Man' was shot.
Baku of the Oil Boom Era
In this part of the photo walk, you will see the elegant Baku Philharmonic, learn what was here before. Walk through the beautiful garden of the Baku governor, who was sent to pacify the Muslims and fell in love with the city, staying here. You will see the most romantic building in the city, built by the philanthropist Tagiyev, a house with the unusual name Ismailiya - I will tell you amazing stories and legends about each place.
