What to expect
Path along the Kotor Bay
Driving along the narrow road along the bay coastline, you will see ancient fishing villages and houses with red tiled roofs surrounded by blooming bougainvillea and oleander bushes. You will come across Orthodox churches with green domes and fishing boats moored to the pier. Along the way, I will tell you about the life of the local residents, whose main occupation is still fishing, the peculiarities of the lifestyle of people living along the bay coast, as well as about the Balkan traditions that preserve the local color and charm.
Kotor - ancient history and vibrant cultural mosaic
During a walk through the streets of the city with over 2000 years of history, you will discover an impressive variety of eras it has gone through. I will show you the most significant sights and tell the history of Old Kotor. Together we will trace the Roman, Byzantine, Serbian, Venetian, and Austrian periods, the times of the Napoleonic Wars and the world wars of the 20th century. You will hear about the serious trials that fell to Kotor's lot, the change of rulers and peoples living here, numerous battles, as well as outbreaks of dangerous epidemics and destructive earthquakes. You will learn how, despite this, the city continued to develop: palaces and temples were built, ships were laid down, trade flourished, and world-famous works of art were created.
Medieval Perast
After exploring Kotor, you will head to another medieval town of the bay - less known than Kotor, but equally charming. You will take a stroll along its waterfront and cross by boat to the artificially created island of Our Lady of the Rocks, located opposite Perast. You will learn about the history of the island's appearance and the church on it. At the end of the tour, I will take you to an oyster farm where you can try fresh oysters with homemade white wine.
