What to Expect
Along the Kotor Bay Route
Driving along the narrow road along the bay shoreline, you will see ancient fishing villages and houses with red tile roofs surrounded by blooming bougainvillea and oleander bushes. You will come across Orthodox churches with green domes and fishing boats moored to the pier. Along the way, I will tell you about the lives of the local residents, whose main occupation is still fishing, about the peculiarities of the lifestyle of people living along the bay coast, as well as about Balkan traditions that help preserve the local color and charm.
Kotor - ancient history and a bright mosaic of cultures
Walking through the streets of a city with over 2000 years of history, you will discover an impressive variety of eras it has been through. I will show you the most significant sights and tell the story of Old Kotor. Together we will trace the Roman, Byzantine, Serbian, Venetian, and Austrian periods, the times of the Napoleonic wars and the world wars of the 20th century. You will hear about the serious trials that befell Kotor, the changes of rulers and peoples living here, numerous battles, as well as outbreaks of dangerous epidemics and destructive earthquakes. You will learn how, despite this, the city continued to develop: palaces and temples were built, ships were laid down, trade flourished, and world-famous works of art were created.
Medieval Perast
After exploring Kotor, you will head to another medieval town by the bay - less known than Kotor, but no less charming. You will stroll along its promenade and take a boat ride to the artificially created island of Our Lady of the Rocks, located opposite Perast. You will learn about the history of the island's emergence and the church on it. And at the end of the tour, I will take you to an oyster farm where you can taste fresh oysters with homemade white wine.
