This journey combines idyllic landscapes and stories of sunny Liguria, a city from Monet's canvases and a favorite resort of the Russian empress, memories of a music festival, and the secrets of an ancient castle. In one day, you will fall in love with this piece of Italy on our comfortable and informative tour!
What to expect
Menton - a town with an orange mood
Our first stop is the last French town before the border with Italy. Menton is known as the lemon capital: its climate is ideal for citrus fruits, and every year a festival of sculptures made of oranges and lemons is held here. The streets of Menton support its 'reputation': as you walk through them, you will see many yellow and orange houses straight out of postcards. And you will also visit a picturesque park, the summer garden of the princes of Monaco.
Dolceacqua - a medieval town from Claude Monet's brush
It was here that the inspired artist painted the picture 'Dolceacqua Castle.' You will see the bridge and castle Doria with your own eyes, and optionally and for an additional fee, you can visit the castle inside. The guide will tell you a mysterious legend about the passionate marquess and explain what the 'lovers' arches' are.
Musical San Remo
Our third destination is the favorite resting place of the Russian aristocracy and the city that hosts the legendary Italian music festival. You will see the building where it takes place, the dome of the Christ the Savior church among the palms, the 18th-century fort-dungeon, and Alfred Nobel's villa. In San Remo, you will also have time to appreciate real Ligurian cuisine.
