About this experience
There are many fantastic places in the vicinity of Issyk-Kul. You will see the main attractions of the ancient city of Karakol, walk through the Martian-like Fairy Tale Canyon, and immerse yourself in the hot springs of Tian-Shan. You will stroll through mountain gorges, touch glaciers, and be amazed by the diversity of Kyrgyzstan's nature.
What to expect
Southern Shore of Issyk-Kul
The northern coast of the lake is famous for beach holidays. Instead, we will head south – to the mountains, canyons, and gorges. The excursion program includes:
- Karakol – the first city in the Issyk-Kul Valley. You will see the Dungan Mosque in the form of a pagoda and the wooden Holy Trinity Church. You will also visit the museum and the grave of the famous explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky.
- Jeti-Oguz Gorge – you will enjoy a range of silent red rocks towering over a picturesque valley. I will decipher the name of the gorge and tell you how it was formed.
- Barskoon Gorge – we will delight in the enchanting panoramas of waterfalls and coniferous forests. Then we will climb the slopes of the gorge to the Arabell and Suek passes, where we can touch the glaciers.
- Fairy Tale Canyon – a place that will captivate you with whimsical coral-like rocks resembling a Martian landscape.
- Thermal Springs – you will relax in the healing hot springs under the open sky and learn about the beneficial elements they contain.
