About this experience
Together we will walk through two central districts, and in addition to the popular Galata Tower and Istiklal Street, we will peek into non-touristy alleys - here you will see the everyday life of the city. You will observe fishermen on the Galata Bridge, find a Catholic church on the Turkish streets, learn the history of the old Tunnel and immerse yourself in the Istanbul atmosphere.
What to expect
Taksim and Beyoglu: where the heart of the city beats
A colorful array of shops and antique stalls, the scents of Turkish street food, the songs of street musicians, the rattling of the historic funicular - you will be dizzy with a whirlwind of sounds and colors! While you admire this street dance, I will reveal the history of the area. I will explain why Beyoglu was formerly called Pera, tell you about interesting museums to visit here. We will also remember Agatha Christie, and also talk about how the citizens defended their beloved tram.
In addition, on the route you will find:
- The Galata Tower - the star of social media. You will learn about the different functions it has performed at different times.
- The two-story Galata Bridge, which local fishermen have taken a fancy to.
- The Church of St. Anthony of Padua - I will tell you who the Catholic church was built for and explain the events that preceded its construction.
