About this experience
Located at an altitude of 3016 meters, Son-Kul Lake will captivate you with its crystal clear water, yurts on the shore, and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Along the way, I will show you the turquoise Orto-Tokoy Reservoir, ancient burials, and the 'burning' spring. I will talk about the nature, history, rich traditions, and cuisine of Kyrgyzstan.
What to Expect
Turquoise reservoir, 'burning' spring, and ancient fortress
Our first stop will be at the picturesque Orto-Tokoy Reservoir. It will amaze you with its surreal combination of colorful ochre mountains, turquoise water, and camels grazing on the shore. Then, the winding mountain road will lead us to the burials and fortress walls of the ancient settlement. And near the village of Tuz, you will see the mysterious 'burning' spring. I will share the history and legends of these amazing places with you.
Son-Kul Lake, mountain passes, and lunch in a yurt
After crossing the high mountain pass Kyzart, you will see the fantastically beautiful Son-Kul Lake. Take a stroll, breathe the crystal clear air, and enjoy the idyllic panoramas. You will also taste the national cuisine in an authentic yurt camp. We will drive by car along the entire southern shore of the lake, then descend through the Kalmak-Ashu pass. If we're lucky, we'll encounter charming yaks along the way.
