About this experience
Embark on a journey into the world of high culture with an outdoor brunch by the water - I will tell you about the life and art passion of the prominent entrepreneur Calouste Gulbenkian. Then, we will visit the museum where you will see masterpieces by different artists, and I will help you trace the evolution of art history from ancient Egyptian painting to 20th-century Lalique jewelry.
What to expect
Over breakfast or coffee (optional), I will tell you how Gulbenkian amassed a huge fortune and earned the nickname Mr. 5%. You will learn how he assembled a private collection of works and why it is valuable. We will take a stroll through the park, where you will hear about a 20th-century architectural national monument.
At the museum, you will travel through countries, styles, eras, and continents:
- Discover rarely exhibited Islamic art in Europe
- Examine the works of Manet, Renoir, and other masters
- Explore the art of Japan, China, Egypt, and other countries
- Learn about new names in Portuguese painting, graphic arts, and sculpture
