About this experience
You will head to the east of Crete to conquer the picturesque Richtis Gorge - also known as the Tamarisk Gorge. During the 4-hour walk, you will see giant plane trees and colorful oleanders, hear the voices of birds and the rustle of lizards, and feel the power of a huge waterfall. And on the way back, if you wish, you can swim in the turquoise water at Voulisma Beach.
What to Expect
Vibrant Nature
We will pick you up from the hotel and drive (approximately a 2-hour journey) to the descent into the gorge, where the hiking journey begins.
The path follows along a river that never runs dry, making the gorge extremely rich in flora and fauna. Here you will find huge plane trees entwined with vines, walnut trees, oleanders, and blooming flowers. Birds sing in the trees, lizards rustle in the grass.
Incredible Waterfall
The highlight of the gorge is the Richtis Waterfall. Water cascades noisily from a height of several tens of meters, filling a large natural bath at its base and throwing millions of small water particles into the air.
Beach and Lunch
At the exit of the gorge, a transfer will meet you and take you back. On the way, we will stop at Voulisma Beach with beautiful turquoise water, where you can swim if you wish. And then, if you like, you will have lunch at a traditional tavern.
