Group Tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel (skip-the-line, tickets included)
About this experience
There are about 20 museums on the territory of the Vatican. According to experts, it would take 8 years to bypass and see all the exhibits. We have taken care of your time and have designed an optimal 3-hour route for you to see the most important things. If desired, at the end of the tour, you can stay in St. Peter's Basilica and take a walk on your own.
What to expect
Let's start the journey from the internal viewing platform, from where you can see the Vatican Gardens. We will visit the famous open Pine Cone Courtyard.
Next, we will visit the most famous and interesting Vatican Museums.
Pinacoteca
Be impressed by the exquisite architecture of the museum itself and the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Pietro Perugino, and many other masters.
Pio-Clementino Museum
This is one of the oldest museums in the world dedicated to ancient sculpture. We will see samples of ancient Roman and Greek statues, busts of emperors and deities, sarcophagi, ancient masks, floor mosaics.
Gallery of Tapestries
We will admire masterpieces created according to the original drawings of Raphael. The collection includes 10 tapestries painted on biblical subjects from the Old and New Testaments.
Gallery of Maps
We will enter one of the three highest galleries in the Papal Palace. We will get acquainted with the world's largest series of frescoes depicting maps.
Raphael's Rooms
We will walk through the four rooms painted with frescoes of incredible beauty by Raphael on the order of Pope Julius II. The history of the masterpiece began with the whim of the newly elected pontiff: he did not want to live in the rooms of his predecessor, ordered to prepare other apartments for himself, and paint them anew.
Sistine Chapel
For 600 years, a new Pope of Rome has been chosen in the chapel. After each stage of voting, the candidates burn the ballots. White smoke above the chapel means that a new Pope has been elected. During the tour, we will talk about the roots of this tradition and the longest Papal elections lasting 2 years and 9 months. Then we will examine the frescoes by Botticelli, Rosselli, Perugino, and Ghirlandaio. We will stop separately near the famous "Last Judgment" by Michelangelo.
After visiting the chapel, we will visit the main attraction of the Vatican - St. Peter's Basilica, where you will see the famous "Pieta" by Michelangelo, and take a walk on St. Peter's Square.
Entrance to St. Peter's Basilica without queuing accompanied by a guide. The Vatican reserves the right to close the entrance to the basilica without warning in case of a mass, the arrival of cardinals, or for other reasons. In such a situation, the tour will only take place in the Vatican Museums. An additional fee may be charged on-site for headphones inside the basilica, ranging from 3-5 euros.

Some people in the group didn't have enough time to fully explore all the rooms we were shown, but it is important to understand that the Vatican museum is...

Wonderful tour! Even though there were 20 people in the group, no one interfered. There were many people in the museum, but the exhibits were clearly visible. The guide Ekaterina is an interesting storyteller.
