From Pinacoteca to Sistine Chapel
About this experience
I invite you to experience a 'full immersion' in art and explore the main masterpieces of the Vatican collections. Walk through the Galleries of Geographic Maps and Tapestries, see authentic masterpieces by Raphael and Michelangelo, visit the grand St. Peter's Basilica and the true wonder - the Sistine Chapel. We will travel back in time, where magnificent works of world art, stories from the life of the mysterious Vatican, Roman popes, and great masters await you, as well as interesting facts often unknown to the general public.
What to Expect
Renaissance Masterpieces in Pinacoteca
You will see precious originals of works by Raphael, Giotto, Caravaggio, Titian, Leonardo da Vinci, and other brilliant masters of the Renaissance era. Raphael's 'Coronation of the Virgin Mary,' the only painting in Rome by the genius Leonardo 'Blessed Jerome,' Caravaggio's 'The Deposition of Christ' - it's worth coming to Rome just to meet these masterpieces!
Luxurious Galleries of the Vatican
You will walk through galleries stunning with an abundance of optical illusions, elegance of frescoes, gilding, and sculpture. Admire beautiful sculptures, candelabras, tapestries based on Raphael's designs, and the amazing collection of geographic maps. By the way, one of the galleries holds a rare record and an unusual purpose of its existence, but all its secrets will be revealed inside this intellectual puzzle.
Marvel at the Sistine Chapel
Of course, we will not overlook the breathtaking Sistine Chapel, brought to life by the genius of Michelangelo and the great Florentine masters of the 15th century. Here I will introduce you to priceless frescoes and tell the history of the chapel, closely intertwined with the history of the papacy and the Vatican.
Treasures of the Vatican Museums
You will also explore other world-famous collections of the Vatican: the Pio-Clementino Museum with unique ancient sculptures, the Carriage Pavilion with a collection of papal gilded carriages and elegant papal vehicles from different eras, and the 'Raphael Rooms' - halls painted by the master and his students. The luxurious rooms of Pope Alexander VI Borgia with frescoes by the great Pinturicchio will impress even the most discerning art lover.
Magnificent St. Peter's Basilica
At the end of the tour, you will visit St. Peter's Basilica - the pearl of the Catholic world, where a huge number of Christian relics are housed. You will learn about the construction of the basilica, its purpose, and how church services with the participation of the Pope are held. And then we will explore the square in front of the basilica with the Swiss Guard, Bernini's masterpieces, and the Egyptian obelisk, which has its own adventurous history.
- Instead of the Carriage Pavilion, the Pio-Clementino Museum, and St. Peter's Basilica, we can visit the Chiaramonti Museum, filled with ancient sculptures, or the Vatican Apostolic Library, where you can admire delicate and at the same time luxurious frescoes and exhibits from different eras, from antiquity and early Christianity to the 19th century.
