About this experience
You will visit the eighth wonder of the world - that's how Pamukkale is called. And not in vain: many years ago, nature created extraordinary travertines with thermal healing water here. But we will not only look at them. Ancient Hierapolis with an amphitheater and Roman baths and the Cleopatra's pool, where bathing can rejuvenate the soul and body, are also included in the program!
What to expect
Pamukkale is a city in Turkey and a place known worldwide for its snow-white travertines. It has become beloved not only by tourists, but also by filmmakers: famous movies like 'Ghost Rider 2' and 'Odyssey' were filmed here. This is where we will go!
You will visit:
- Hierapolis. An ancient city with well-preserved Roman theater, necropolis, baths, Temple of Apollo, and Martyrium of Saint Philip. The territory of Pamukkale is actually Hierapolis.
- Travertine terraces. You will take unforgettable photos at this wonder of nature, while the guide will explain how the natural pools formed and how they are filled now.
- Cleopatra's Pool with thermal water and ancient columns at the bottom. Immersing yourself in this pool of bliss, you will rejuvenate your soul and body (just like the Egyptian queen did in her time). The water here is +36 degrees Celsius year-round. When you enter the pool, you will feel how tiny bubbles envelop you like champagne. It's indescribable!
You will learn:
- Why Pamukkale is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Which apostle was crucified in Pamukkale and why
- Why the travertines are white in color
- What properties geothermal water really possesses
- Why Pamukkale is called the 'cotton castle'
- And much more
