About this experience
An ordinary car suddenly becomes a time machine: a journey awaits us back to the Stone Age! In the historical and artistic reserve, you will explore ancient petroglyphs and get acquainted with the lifestyle of ancestors, their magical symbols and totems, discover a Roman message, and admire the unearthly landscape. And if you're lucky, you can peek into a mud volcano crater.
What to Expect
Panoramic Views
All the way from the center of Baku to the archaeological reserve, you will be accompanied by industrial views, flaming torches at the oil fields, coastal hotels, and private beach areas. You will also see the 'Baku Ears' - a local double-headed mini-Fujiyama.
Petroglyph Reserve
We will head to a mountainous village in the southeast of the Greater Caucasus Range. Among the steep Gobustan rocks, ancient artifacts are hidden. Before the walk, you will visit an interactive museum, whose screens will tell you about the ancient flora and fauna of the surrounding area. We will explore the historical area, talk about the lives of ancestors, examining rock paintings. We will contemplate the culture, economy, customs, and traditions of ancient people, as well as the symbols characteristic of the art of the Stone Age.
Volcanic Craters
You will see unusual mud volcanoes, admire the desert landscape of the Absheron Peninsula, and the craters of bubbling griffins. And I will tell you about the useful properties of liquid clay and the ignitable natural gas.
On the way back, we will stop in the old village of Bibi-Heybat, where you will discover the history of the world's first oil well drilled in the 19th century.
