About this experience
Sun-drenched districts Boccadasse and Nervi are a complete opposite of the historic center with its narrow streets. By visiting them, you will understand why Genoa is called a city of contrasts. Step outside the center - and you will see a picture of the real life of the city. You will admire a panoramic view of the bay and colorful houses, walk along sun-drenched promenades lined with orange and palm tree alleys, swim in the clean sea. And I will tell you about the locals and their way of life, traditions, and cuisine.
What to expect
Postcard view
In just 15 minutes, we will go from the old port to the cozy district of Boccadasse, where sailors used to settle. You will walk through colorful streets rarely visited by tourists, see the varied houses and atmospheric courtyards - with laundry hanging and photogenic shabbiness. From the viewing platform, you will enjoy a stunning view of the bay, and in the warm season, you can relax on the beach, sunbathe, and swim. I will tell you about our traditional cuisine, introduce you to traditional fast food: cones with seafood in batter. And I will also show you where to buy the most delicious Italian gelato and the best focaccia in the city - a flatbread that is only made in Liguria.
Genoa's Gardens
Then we will head to the Nervi district, the green oasis of Genoa: here is a huge park with many exotic flowers and trees. It is surrounded by luxurious villas that function as museums of contemporary art - after a walk, you can explore the exhibitions on your own. We will also visit the Rosary, where they cultivate both antique and modern competitive varieties of roses.
Promenade Along the Waves
The special pride of the area is the Anita Garibaldi promenade, stretching for 2 kilometers along the sea cliffs. You can relax on the sun-warmed stones, enjoying the sea view, or swim at the beach at the end of the promenade. The marine painter Aivazovsky was inspired by the views here - I will tell you which other famous Russian artists spent time in these places, as well as share interesting facts about the city and local culture.
