About this experience
A city walk can be exciting not only for adults but also for children. I invite you and your family to take a mini-journey through different eras of Milan's history, visit main places, and explore hidden corners unseen by ordinary passers-by. I will share historical facts about Italy in an informal way, engaging children in dialogue during the walk.
What to expect
- On the main square of Milan, we will count the statues on the facade of the Duomo cathedral and discover interesting stories depicted on them. I will show you which sculpture served as the prototype for the Statue of Liberty in New York.
- I will share the history of Milan's founding and explain the connection to a boar half-covered in fur.
- In Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, we will spin around on one foot for good luck.
- On the medieval Merchants' Square, we will learn how the 'wireless telephone' worked.
- I will tell you why a controversial monument was placed in the financial district for a few days but has been there for 14 years.
- We will see the remains of the Roman Empire almost 2000 years old and understand how the city looked when it was the capital of the Romans.
- I will show you where the most delicious Christmas panettone pies in Milan are sold, and if you wish, we will try this treat together.
- We will finish the walk in the territory of the authentic medieval Sforza Castle, once a defensive structure of Milan.
- Afterwards, you can explore the adjacent Sempione Park on your own, where children will surely enjoy!
Organizational details
- I recommend the tour for adults and children from 6 years old.
