About this experience
Goa is a paradise state unlike any other in the country. We invite you to explore the 'real India' in Mumbai! Luxurious palaces and skyscrapers coexist with slums and open-air laundries there. You will see it all while traveling comfortably around the city by car. To get to Mumbai and back, we will use a sleeper bus - a bus with reclining seats and air conditioning.
What to Expect
You will see all the main attractions of Mumbai:
- Victoria Terminus - a true colonial palace. You will learn how it was built, why it was renamed, and who Chhatrapati Shivaji is, in whose honor it is officially named.
- Gateway of India - built to commemorate the visit of King George V, they have become a symbol of the city. It was through them that the last British soldiers left after India gained independence.
- Taj Mahal Hotel - the most famous Indian hotel. We will tell you why it was built, which famous people visited it, and for what occasion.
- Haji Ali Mosque - you will appreciate its unique location, hear the legends associated with it, and find out who is buried there.
- Mahalakshmi Temple - dedicated to the Indian goddess of prosperity Lakshmi. At your discretion, you will perform a local ritual: place a coin on the wall behind the altar. If it 'sticks', Lakshmi has blessed you.
- Dhobi Ghat Laundry - a laundry that serves the entire city. Many men (women are not allowed to do this work) wash and dry a huge amount of clothes all day long. Just like hundreds of years ago.
And you will also see the Hanging Gardens on the hill and visit the Dharavi slums, where the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' was filmed. You will visit the 'Leopold' cafe from the book 'Shantaram' and walk along Marine Drive, enjoying the views of the Arabian Sea.
Timing
18:00 - transfer from the hotel to the bus station
19:30 - departure from Goa to Mumbai on a sleeper bus (every 3-4 hours stops for snacks, toilets)
08:00 - arrival in Mumbai. Auto-pedestrian excursion with a guide for the whole day.
19:00 - departure from Mumbai to Goa
09:00 - arrival in Goa, transfer to the hotel
