5,000 kilometers of hiking trails wrap around the Grand Duchy: this is the densest hiking network in Europe. I suggest heading to its most beautiful part - the Mullerthal region, or Little Switzerland of Luxembourg. It was in Mullerthal in 2014 that it earned its reputation and received the label 'Best Trails in Europe'.

The country's history in the city of Echternach
The Mullerthal region offers an extensive introduction to the country's history, because it is here that the oldest city of the Grand Duchy is situated - the city of Echternach. I will tell you its history, and you will visit the abbey with the basilica, where you will learn about Saint Willibrord and the Dancing Procession, which takes place in Echternach every year - this tradition has been going on for over a thousand years and is listed as UNESCO's intangible heritage.
The magnificent Bourscheid Castle
The Mullerthal region also features Bourscheid Castle, consisting of two parts - the Medieval and Renaissance parts. Until 2012, the Renaissance part of the castle was residential: you will touch the history of Bourscheid through the lives of its inhabitants, who preserved the castle to this day. For nearly 100 years, berry liqueurs have been prepared on the Bourscheid grounds, so after the castle tour, you will enjoy a tasting of blackcurrant liqueur - the hallmark of this place.
