What to expect
Walk through key locations of the historic center
Our route will take you to the most significant and interesting sites of 'museum-like' Florence. You will visit Cathedral Square with the city's main church and learn about the paradox of its huge dome, which has become a symbol of Florence. On Square of the Signoria, I will tell you why the government palace was built like a fortress, and why the clock tower does not have a minute hand. You will see the famous Uffizi Gallery from the outside, where the most beautiful office in the history of mankind was supposed to be, learn why a Florentine bridge is called 'husband killer', and where the great Michelangelo made a mistake in creating the statue of David.
We will not overlook Giotto's Bell Tower, the colorful Florentine church Orsanmichele built on the site of a former market, and Baptistery of St. John. By the walls of Medici-Riccardi Palace, we will talk about the most influential family in the city, and by Pitti aristocrat's palace - about patronage and love for art. From the banks of the Arno River, you will have a view of Michelangelo Square and Oltrarno - the picturesque part of Florence where the city's elite resides. You will admire medieval towers from above, Boboli Gardens, Villa Bardini, the rose and iris gardens, all of which I will also tell you about.
