About this experience
Due to the hot and arid climate in Andalusia, houses were traditionally built around an inner courtyard with a fountain or well collecting rainwater. Over time, these courtyards started to be filled with flowers and plants. This beautiful ancient tradition still lives on. I invite you to experience it!
What to Expect
I will show you patios where balconies and grilles are adorned with live flowers. As well as cozy squares, parks, and staircases with citrus trees, palms, and bougainvillea bushes planted. In addition, we will:
- Stroll through the famous Flower Alley
- Visit the courtyard of the most luxurious hotel in the city
- Explore the courtyard-palace of Viana, boasting 13 courtyards
- Admire the Orange Courtyard of a former mosque
- Pop into a tavern with flowers and singing canaries
We will also visit private homes where owners, year after year, decorate and maintain their courtyards in splendid condition. They will gladly answer any of your questions.
Organizational Details
- The tour is not available from July 1st to September 15th
- Tickets to the Viana Palace must be purchased separately at 8€ per person. When visiting private homes, owners may ask for a small donation of 1-2€ per group.
- Upon request, I can arrange the tour for larger groups. Please inquire about cost and details via private message.
