About this experience
Want to fall in love for a lifetime? I have a bike recipe that will allow you to see Barcelona from a different perspective, feel the city's energy, and learn about the history of this magnificent city, the network of which is laid out on our five-hour bike journey. It's useful, interesting, informative, and will allow you to get to know Barcelona, avoiding the tourist crowds.
Program
The entire route proposed by me passes almost without steep climbs and is available in a wide age range. The weather is always beautiful, the city is as comfortable and safe as possible for cycling.
- Our tour will start at 9:00 when tourists are still asleep, but all the interesting places are already accessible to us.
- We will begin with a morning stroll along the 5-kilometer promenade, where all 10 Barcelona beaches are located.
- You will see the Champions Square, where all the names of the Olympians of 1992 are immortalized, when Barcelona was the capital of the Olympics.
- After the first stop and a short rest, having a cup of aromatic coffee with a croissant, we will continue our journey through the newly opened port for mega-yacht mooring (by the way, the largest in the Mediterranean Sea) towards the monument to Christopher Columbus on the eponymous promenade. I will introduce you to the oldest shipyard in Barcelona, the Port Vell, the famous wooden promenade (finished with teak yacht board), the Rambla boulevard.
- Next, we will head to the cactus park, where cacti from all over the world are presented and where there are almost never tourists.
- After a short break, we will continue our walk on the funicular, which offers beautiful views of the entire city and where you will take memorable photos.
- At the top, we will find the Montjuic medieval fortress with real defensive functions, an 18th-century museum, and a lovely cafe where you will be offered a second breakfast.
- Next, we will descend to the Juan Antonio Samaranch Olympic Stadium (a native of Barcelona), where I will tell you about the 1992 Olympics and the significant events of that time.
- After the Olympic facilities, we will visit the working Royal Palace, where Spain's King Philip is welcomed during his visits to Barcelona, and the cascade of fountains located at the foot of the Palace.
- Next, we will head to the Plaza de Espana, where the once famous Arena for bullfighting is located.
- Along one of the main streets of the city - Carrer de les Cortes Catalanes - we will head to the center, along the way getting acquainted with the University of Barcelona (founded in 1450), and bohemian districts of Sant Antoni and Ensanche.
- Our route will pass through the city's main square - Placa de Catalunya - and the trendiest street, Paseo De Gracia, where I will introduce you to Gaudi's works - Casa Batllo and La Pedrera.
- Next, we will head to Gaudi's most famous masterpiece - the Sagrada Familia. After the tour, we will have a wonderful photo session and move on.
- After lunch, we will visit the Ciutadella Park, which previously housed a medieval city fortress.
- The last part of our route will pass through the bohemian district of El Born, where various stores of designer works are widely represented, and the Catholic church of Santa Maria del Mar is located.
- At the end of our tour, you will enjoy a 'magical' (this is no joke) coffee at one of the best cafes in Barcelona.
