About this experience
Want to see Bali from a non-touristic perspective? I have designed an exclusive and safe cycling route in the surroundings of Ubud. It is easy, active, and educational. You will ride through jungles and rice terraces, learn about Subak, and try planting rice. Visit the Mask Museum, witness the work of stone carvers, and end the journey with a swim in a waterfall.
What to Expect
- We will ride through rice terraces and Balinese villages, observe their daily life and work. We will talk about the traditions of the Balinese people, their beliefs, worldview, and relationship with nature. You will get acquainted with Subak - the foundation of Balinese life for the past millennium. And if you wish, you can participate in planting rice or harvesting.
- We will visit the best private museum in Bali - the Mask and Puppet Museum from around the world. Housed in traditional Javanese joglo houses, the museum's unique collection tells about the island's sacred traditions and other parts of the world. You will learn who founded the museum and how the collection was replenished.
- We will venture into a secret canyon, where you will observe the work of stone carvers, examine many sculptures and carvings on the stones. And then we will cross the river and refresh ourselves under the Sumampan waterfall.
Who is this for
The route is available for participants aged 10 to 99. The difficulty level is easy, just need to know how to ride a bike.
