About this experience
The East is ancient history and its own special tastes. We believe that in Samarkand, one should not only admire the architecture but also try the food: samsa, shashlik, manti... All these dishes, like the attractions we explore, have their own secrets – you will hear them. Cozy old streets, the main square with mosques and madrasas, and local gastronomy – that's our plan!
What to Expect
- Start the morning with a true Uzbek breakfast – hot flatbread with cream, which has been prepared for centuries at the ancient Siab bazaar. Awake your taste buds and stroll through the old streets with cozy mahallas (quarters), where every corner is steeped in history.
- Explore the Shah-i-Zinda complex and Bibi-Khanym mosque, wander through the streets where the Jewish community once lived, and taste real uryuk compote – a delicious drink made by local residents at home and sold right on the street.
- Visit Registan Square and Gur-e Amir – the mausoleum of Tamerlane.
- For lunch, head to the gastronomic street, where every dish is a true work of art. Taste hot samsa from the tandyr, try aromatic shashlik, enjoy the flavor of manti, and uncover the secrets and cooking techniques of these dishes.
Throughout the gastronomic journey, the guide will share amazing facts and stories so you not only taste Samarkand but also learn about its past and present.
