About this experience
We invite you to have a date with the real Princess - this is how the sunny Valencia is called. Choose one of the informative routes: against the background of the main symbols of the city, you will dive into history without boring lectures, explore the diverse architecture, and hear facts known only to a few locals.
What to expect
We have prepared two rich routes for you covering the key locations in Valencia. Both routes start at Plaza de la Virgen, where you will learn about the city's patron. The red route goes through the eastern part of the old town, while the blue one covers the western side.
Red route: Classical Valencia
At Plaza de la Virgen, you will discover the Basilica of Desamparados and the symbolism of the Turia fountain, as well as admire the Cathedral, home to the Holy Grail. We will tell you about its mysteries, the baroque main entrance, and the tradition of distributing fresh water. Next, you will visit Church of St. Catherine with its unique bell tower and the Silk Exchange - a real temple of past trade, where you will see gargoyles and intricate stone patterns. And at the green City Hall Square, you will dive into the Mudéjar style, see the post office resembling a palace, and be enchanted by the flower kiosks.
This route will also introduce you to the tastes of Valencia. In the shade of citrus trees at the Orange Grove, we will tell you about the importance of these fruits for the city and recommend where to try two traditional drinks: the invigorating Agua de Valencia, a Valencian pride, and Horchata made from tiger nuts. You will also immerse yourself in the Valencia atmosphere at the Central Market.
Blue route: Elegant Valencia
Let's start with a story about the festival that turns Plaza de la Virgen into a field of flowers! Then you will touch the ancient past by seeing the excavations of ancient Valencia, the Roman city of Valentia, literally beneath your feet. We will amaze you with the lace architecture of the Lace House and facts about the Roman Gate at the Cathedral. At Plaza de la Reina, you will learn about the Miguelete bell tower and the best local cafes and bars. A separate theme will be Valencia's crafts. You will discover the peculiarities of local ceramics near the museum in the luxurious Marquis of Dos Aguas Palace. And at the Lladró factory museum-boutique, you will get acquainted with the renowned delicate porcelain. On City Hall Square, you will imagine the bright Spanish festival of Fallas and then see the huge Bullfighting Arena.
